Eosensa announces NERC Cyber Security Assessments

NERC Cyber Security Standards

NERC Reliability Standards CIP-002-009 provides a framework for identifying and protecting critical cyber assets to support reliable operation of the bulk power system. These standards apply to more entities and assets than the previous standard. The NERC Standards recognize the differing roles of each entity in the operation of the bulk power system, the criticality and vulnerability of the assets needed to manage the bulk power system reliability, and the risk to which they are exposed.NERC established minimum standards to ensure the security during electronic exchange of information to support reliability. The standards go further to address all elements of security, not just cyber-security. The standards are very detailed and include a multi-year implementation schedule.

The Cyber Security Standards are as follows:

  • CIP-002-1 (Critical Cyber Assets)
  • CIP-003-1 (Security Management Controls)
  • CIP-004-1 (Personnel & Training)
  • CIP-005-1 (Electronic Security)
  • CIP-006-1 (Physical Security)
  • CIP-007-1 (Systems Security Management)
  • CIP-008-1 (Incident Reporting and Response Planning)
  • CIP-009-1 (Recovery Plans)
